The January 5 will take place in Naples the concert “…e arrivaje ‘na stella…” with Fausta Vetere and Corrado Sfogli. The event will be held at the Domus Ars-Cultural Center, in Santa Clara at 21:00, and promises to be interesting from several points of view. First, because the repertoire ranges from Neapolitan traditional folk songs to Neapolitan classic songs. Second, because the two performers – which were often placed, in the course of their careers, in a space where these two dimensions come together – are an important piece of the history of the Neapolitan folk music and, in general, Italian. Fausta Vetere and Riccardo Sfogli are, in fact, voice and guitar of Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, an ensemble which now boasts a career of more than forty years and which was founded and composed of prominent members of the scenario of research and revival of Neapolitan folk music: Roberto De Simone, Eugenio Bennato, Carlo D’Angiò, Giovanni Mauriello, Peppe Barra. As you can read in the introduction notes of the event, you will hear villanelles, tammurriate, moresche, tarantella, but also some classic songs never sung before, which will be presented through the most essential arrangements and without “redundant” orchestrations.
