From December 27 to January 5, 2015 will be held in Spello the fifth edition of “Spello Splendens. Il medioevo e il soffio infinito della musica in festa”. It is a festival dedicated to ancient instruments (some of which are also used in musical repertoires of oral tradition), as bag pipe or ciaramelle, which now maintain a role fairly characterized especially in reference to Christmas traditions. Also this year will take turns – in a series of shows with free admission to be held at the Teatro Subasio, Auditorium of the Centro Studi “Adolfo Broegg”, the town hall, in the church of S. Maria Maggiore – the best exponents active in ‘field of medieval and ancient music. These include the Micrologus, ensemble of medieval and Renaissance music, who will present their new album in a show entitled ” Che magnerà la sposa? Una fagiana grigia…”; the Narnia Cantores, with the show “Divine, Moralia, Ludus et Amores: true Carmina Burana”; Goffredo Degli Esposti and Andrea Piccioni, with the medieval and traditional music performance “Sounds of pipes and drums. Travel in Italy between bagpipes and tambourines”; the Istrian group Vruja, with the show “The traditional songs of Christmas begging and instrumental music of the Istrian peninsula”; the group of traditional and experimental music Cantsilena, with the show “Scilla”, during which they will present their new album; the traditional music band Antiche Ferrovie Calabro-Lucane, with the show “Alaca. Sounds from another Calabria”. The event – which you can see in detail here – also includes the seminar “The bagpipes and bagpipes of Italy”, edited by Goffredo Degli Esposti, and the traveling event “Bagpipes and lentils”, which will take place along a path that crosses the village, with the participation of Piero Braga, Oretta Orengo and Bagpipes of the Dragon.
