Let’s go back to talk about Sonidumbra, the ensemble for the study, research, revived the music of Umbrian tradition, to report the release of two of their recorded works and to remember a series of initiatives that are part in their activities now almost twenty years . Let’s start with the latter. These are some concerts that they are involved in these days of beginning of the year, which also coincide with some traditional events, like St. Anthony. The group held two concert in Santa Maria degli Angeli entitled ” Sant’Antonio e lu porcello ” and “Festa Umbra”, on 15 and 16 January. January 17, will propose the first of two concerts in Borgo Cerreto (in the province of Perugia), where in the past organized interesting initiatives in particular on the figure of “charlatan”. As for the record production of Sonidumbra, it is important to point out the rather self-produced two anthologies in 2013 and dedicated to traditional repertoires and the various forms that they have taken during the last decades of the twentieth century. The title is ” Festa Umbra. Canti e balli della tradizione” and ” Filomè. Ballate, storie e stornelli umbri”. It is careful selection of a wide repertoire little attention outside of the exclusive areas of academic and dissemination taking, even for this, an extraordinary value. In particular they represent – without leaving anything to chance – the profile of the musical productions of the oral tradition of Umbria. A profile that, unlike what happens in other regions, has historically had many difficulties to emerge, both in form “original” that through the re-proposal. This is probably why the Sonidumbra intended to mix both the reference elements (ranging from sound files recorded in the framework of ethnomusicologists research since the second half of the fifties to the forms of revival produced in the seventies) and the ways in which the music and the songs have been processed. For those wishing to understand in detail the forms of activity and the project of the ensemble, its Internet page offers many opportunities.
