This year the Award Andrea Parodi – now in its seventh edition – promises to be an unmissable event for lovers of folk music, world music and for those who want to appear on the Italian and international new music scene and alternative. In fact, as you can read in the presentation notes of the event – which will take place at the Teatro Auditorium Comunale in Cagliari from 9 to 11 October, with the direction of Elena Ledda – “the competition aims to promote new trends in music of the people, or proposals that draw on cultural traditions but renew and defile”. The award is a project of the Foundation Andrea Parodi (led by Valentina Casalena), active for many years in maintaining and enhancing the legacy that the singer of Porto Torres left in the world. A heritage of music, and an unforgettable voice is unmatched, but above all passion and complete dedication to the “musicality” understood as an expression of deep, mystical, of the human and social groups. From this horizon were born his most important solo productions, such as records “Abacada” and “Midsummer Night in Sardinia” (the latter in collaboration with Al Di Meola). In the same way were born the projects that led him to work with the big names of international music: Noa and Fabrizio De Andrè.
“The prize consists of a sum of money paid to cover all costs of master classes, possible purchase or rental of musical instruments, courses and so the winner will choose for their artistic growth and musical, for a maximum amount of 2,500 euro. An added bonus is the creation of professional video clip of the song in the competition, at the expense of the Foundation Andrea Parodi. In addition, the winner will be offered the opportunity to perform with the 2015 editions of the Prize Andrea Parodi, the European Jazz Expo Cagliari, Folkest and the Negro Festival of Pertosa (SA), which are partners of the event along with Premio Bianca d’Aponte and the Federation of Authors”.
