Start August 20 the Calitri Sponz Fest, organized by Vinicio Capossela in Irpinia, in his native land. The event – which takes the form of a convergence of cinema, music, history, geography, in close contact with the natural landscape and local human – will run until August 30 and will be divided into several sections. Among the most interesting is the Calitri Sponz Film Fest, which will take place August 28 to 30. The aim of this festival within the festival is to trace the event of marriage – for which Calitri has become famous, so it earned the nickname “the country of the marriage” – an international competition of short films on the theme (as stated in the program, “the marriage both as formal moment of bonding between people, which in the broadest sense of union and social sharing of cultural knowledge, rituals of marriage, to unions between persons or entities, investigating the many aspects: anthropological, music, rituals, photographic, literary, contractual, civil, botanical, biological, mystical”). Another key theme of the program is the train. The title of the festival is in fact “I dreamed of the train”, a phrase which in Calitri is used to mean “that he had made up his mind something impossible, some foolhardy idea”. Along the train line Avellino-Rocchetta will take place, because of this, many initiatives, which will go from trekking to guided tours, from readings and projections of “verses and words on a journey”, to the live performances by bands and artists of international renown. These include a concert by the Fanfare Ciocarlia (5:00 am on August 21, the station area Conza / Cairano / Andretta), that of the Tuareg band Tinariwen (22.00), the event “The Long Night of the train. Songs, stories, life around the train in a night”, which will be attended, among others, Lello Arena, Capossela, Peppe Voltarelli, Massimo Ferrante, Otello Profazio (at 21:30 on 25 August), a concert by Giovanna Marini and Francesca Breschi (19.00 on Sunday, August 31, at Casello St. Thomas, Calitri).
