Thursday, June 20 at 18.30, at the Museum of the people of Abruzzo in Pescara, will be presented the volume of Gianfranco Spitilli “Between men and saints. Rituals with bovines in Central Italy”. At the presentation will join, in addition to the author, Ermanno De Pompeis, Director of the Museum of the People of Abruzzo, Francesco Tentarelli, Superintendent of Archive and Library, Abruzzo Region, Adriana Gandolfi, anthropologist and member of the Scientific Committee of the Museum of the People of Abruzzo. The volume of Spitilli, released by the publisher Scquilibri, is the result of a search on “complex symbolic and cultural” of some festive events in central Italy, featuring “ceremonial use of bovines.” In this context, “the book analyzes the relationships between communities, bovines and saints and the distinctive cultural universe marked by the presence of animals, mediators between the human community and the mythical dimension, prove capable of expanding the powers of perception, interpretation and operational of man”.
