It started on 26 June the new edition of Marranzano World Festival, a unique event, which takes place in Catania until July 5. With this new and dense program organizers came to the sixth year, and continuing development of what since 2005 has continued to be an issue biennial event. As has become tradition, the festival focuses on some specific times and addresses them through performances, workshops and opportunities for study and analysis. This new edition is dedicated to “new inventions in the world of acoustic musical instruments and on innovative approaches to the vocal techniques of tradition”. As anticipated the program is full of interesting ideas, both in terms of entertainment and content. From the first day we wanted to go all the prospects that make the event attractive to a diverse audience. Among the guests of the meeting on the theme “Folk traditions and new technologies” are, in fact, the representatives of a world that is embraced by categories and different approaches: Luca Recupero (musician), Giorgio Grazzo (University of Messina), Ignazio Buttitta, Rosario Perricone (International Puppet Museum), Mario Sarica (Museum of Culture and Popular Music of Peloritani). At the opening event it was inaugurated the photographic exhibition “Soul vibrant” by René Purpura, dedicated to the construction of marranzano in Sicily. The program includes, in successive evenings, many concerts with prominent members of the traditional music not only in Sicily. These include The Lautari, Actores Alidos, Sainkho Namtchylak.
