Has been finally announced the program of the 2014 edition of “Orientoccidente”, the festival dedicated to “migrant cultures”, as the slogan says, to be held in the month of July. To tell the truth has been given a foretaste, “but the program is almost complete”, however shows the high profile of the event, directed and organized by Materiali Sonori and Officine della Cultura. We can start with some information of general character. As stated in the page dedicated to the event, “Orientoccidente” – whose first edition dates back to 2005 – is dedicated to “the mestizo cultural traditions in motion”. The program is articulated through “meetings for acceptance, understanding, mutual respect”, with the idea of ”producing music and culture and not just present them”. It is also a traveling show, which involves a fairly large territory (even as those sponsoring, along with the Tuscany Region and the Province of Arezzo): the municipalities of Montevarchi, San Giovanni Valdarno, Terranuova Bracciolini, Cavriglia, Bucine, Castelfranco di Sopra, Pergine Valdarno, Laterina, Pian di Sco, Loro Ciuffenna, Monte San Savino, Marciano della Chiana, Arezzo. The first event is scheduled for July 4. In Castelnuovo Sabbioni Cantierranti & The Gang will perform with a concert entitled “Cantata for the Resistance”, which will celebrate seventy years after the Liberation. At Montevarchi, July 15, will be performing ExCSI, which include Massimo Zamboni, Gianni Maroccolo, Francesco Magnelli, Giorgio Canali and Angela Baraldi. Apart from the latter – which has been called to sing, instead of Lindo Ferretti, the songs of the band – all the others have been part of several developments that have led to the PGR by CCCP (covering a period of over twenty years). On July twenty-three will perform in Terranova Bracciolini, the OMA – Orchestra Multietnica di Arezzo (directed by Enrico Fink) with guest Shel Shapiro. Among other names that are already confirmed on the bill, there are Riccardo Tesi and Banditaliana, Banda Improvvisa, Baro Drom Orkestar.
The rest of the program, which, as mentioned, provides many meetings – as well as a network, within which you can interact with numerous events, such as Trajan’s Summer Fest in Terranuova Bracciolini, the Perlamora Festival in Figline Valdarno, l’Antico Teatro Stabile del Meriggio sul Pratomagno – can be found here.
