The Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino has on other revival groups of Salento a considerable seniority. In fact, it was founded in the seventies. Long before the outbreak of the phenomenon of the revival of pizzica. And probably this length, that is never overlooked in the rhetoric of promoting the ensemble, puts him in a position of advantage over the other. Certainly in terms of international visibility: the ensemble, in fact, engaged in a series of concerts in the United States – who have crossed several times – and occupies the front pages of major magazines, to show that his pizzica is meeting the increasingly world public tastes. We will see the Canzoniere in the most famous magazine of world music, English fRoots, which will dedicate to the group headed by drums player and violinist Mauro Durante, the cover of the next May, with a manifesto entitled: “pizzica regeneration”. And their album “Pizzica indiavolata” will be reviewed in the top ten of the world albums of the magazine Songlines.
