Most of the pieces featured in the CD (disk), come from the repertoire of Frank Angelis, one of the major composers of the modern idiomatic accordion trend. His original style, full of contaminations and continuous changes of time, is fascinating and the listener is involved since the beginning. It is to be considered as a tribute to a great artist, who has been leading the accordion to the fame it deserves. The three pieces at issue (Hommage to Paco, Impasse, Romance) show the great skills of the performer, such as a brilliant technique, an expressive sensitivity and an excellent bellows control. There is also a sonata by Domenico Scarlatti, now considered an essential element of the accordion repertoire. In particular, the sonata k1 shows how the accordion is perfectly appropriate for this repertoire, thanks to the right technical and sound balance existing between the two manuals. The last track is by Jerome Richard, an emblem of the French musette, where there is the right combination of eclectic virtuosity and creative expression.
“Other Ways – points out Peppe Nicola Sirolli – come from the desire to create a work record as a result of all the studies and experiences of the Conservatory years, of competitions and masterclasses. The aim of the work is to awake most of public opinion who tends to generally associate the accordion only to dance and folk music.”
Peppe Nicola Sirolli was born in Atessa (CH) November 25, 1985. He started to study the Bajan at the age of 16 at the Civic School “Fedele Fenaroli” of Lanciano (CH) with M° Cesare Chiacchiaretta. He graduated with honors at the “Santa Cecilia” of Rome under the guidance of Maestro Massimiliano Pitocco. He attended various training courses for Bajan with the Maestros: Max Bonnay, Jacques Mornet, Frederic Deschamps, Mika Vayrynen, Yury Shishkin and Viacheslav Semionov. He won national and international competitions and participated in 2006 in the “Coupe Mondiale – International Competition for Accordionists” organized in Norway. He plays at the local and national theaters and festivals. He teaches Bajan at the Liceo Musicale “D. Cotugno ” of L’Aquila.
