Sunday, May 17 Ambrogio Sparagna will be busy with his Italian Popular Orchestra in an evening dedicated to the music repertoires of Gargano. The appointment is at 18 in the Sala Petrassi of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. The event, which will also see the participation of some members of the scenario of the traditional music of Gargano, is organized by the Fondazione Musica per Roma, in cooperation with Finisterre, Carpino Folk Festival and Puglia Sound. All subjects widely known and which today represent some of the most dynamic movements in the scenario of the study and revived the popular music. The repertoires of Gargano – although they have reached some understanding with the Cantori di Carpino – are still largely unexplored. Or rather, they have not yet entered, as other repertoires not only from Puglia, in a revival that has reached the general public. This despite the musical culture of the area is very deep, very rich and diverse repertoires, and traditional instruments very attractive, even in terms organological. Regarding the latter, we remember especially the chitarra battente, but also the spread of mandola, organ and bagpipes. Regarding instead repertoires, Sparagna and Orchestra will make us listen to some tunes women from Ischitella, some of tarantella of Sannicanddro, until a few traditional arbëreshë songs from Chieuti.
The entrance has a cost of € 15. For info here.
