“Folkest. International Folk Festival “, one of the longest-running festivals of the scenario of the music popular in Italy, has reopened its doors on July 2 with a program that, as always, focuses on the quality. Not only that, with a program that, according to the itinerant formula and selecting “theme” of the proposal, it opens a great view on popular music, Italian and International. As the editors point out, although the exhibition is devoted to folk music, it has taken over the years Folkest profile (increasing net) of a large container. Inside which find space many concerts and many artists, but also various moments of entertainment, thanks to the presence of characters that operate and come from different cultural worlds. “We had to deal with hair whitening and realize that, after being the first to re-interpret the music of the folk tradition in not function situations (not related to the old rituals of the rural civilization, within which much of this music was born and survived until the seventies of the twentieth century) we saw change the attitude of the public to the concerts, with new generations and, in a sense, the physiological”. And that – maybe it is needless to say – is a big step forward. For everyone: for those who manage events and, in a sense, directs the prospects of the representation of repertoires born in the oral tradition. And for those who follow these events and comes to terms, so more and more conscious of the new course that the popular music have taken and, above all, it can take. Up to be considered (as in many countries) not a kind of retaliation in the recording industry, but rather a creative outpost, under which artists study the forms and processes, experimenting and creating. Among the artists of this year 2015 (which began on July 2, will run until 27), remember: The Duo Bottasso (we have written in this column: their music is extraordinary, rich, based on a close dialogue between violin and accordion. They perform 24 to Spilimbergo), Rudy Bučar (will be performing on 18 in Koper), Mandolin Brothers (always 18 to Aurava, San Giorgio della Richinvelda).
