Accordionist – Milos Milivojevic
Cambridge University’s Clare College sees Milos Milivojevic on accordion and Harriet Mackenzie on violin perform a blistering programme ranging from Bach to Piazzolla on Saturday, November 10th at 6:30pm. The full programme is listed below. Both ex-students of the Royal Academy of Music London the two virtuosos come together in a programme that will also include Tartini, Vlasov and Sarasate.
Serbian born accordionist Miloš Milivojević is a first prizewinner at International Competitions in Germany, France, Italy and Denmark. In July 2007 he became the first accordionist ever to win the RAM Club Prize at the Royal Academy of Music.
After completing his studies in Kragujevac Music School with Vojin Vasovic, in 2002 he moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music with Owen Murray where he obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in July 2009 and was awarded with Dip RAM.
Miloš has performed in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, St John Smith Square, St Martin in the Fields and St James Piccadilly, University of London Senate House, Holywell Music Room, National Portrait Gallery Colston Hall Bristol, Keble College Oxford, and has performed at the Foundation Day awards ceremony in front of HRH The Princess Royal. Appearances at the festivals include: Park Lane Group Young Artists, Cheltenham International Festival of Music Aldeburgh Festival Britten-Pears Orchestra, Oxford Chamber Music Festival, Berio Festival, Northfolk & Norwich Festival, Deal and Chichester, Swaledale, Hexham, Belef, Nomus and Grad Teatar Festival.
He has premiered works by Anthony Gilbert, Howard Skempton, Elena Firsova, Stephane Altier, Patrick Nunn, Ben Foskett, Tom Lane, Elena Vorotko, Carlos Duque, Mark Bowden, Emily Hall, Chris Mayo, Anna Meredith, Philip Venables, and Robert Percy and has given the UK premiere of Sequenza No.13 by Luciano Berio. In masterclasses he has received guidance from many distinguished musicians, including Nicholas Cleobury, John Williams, Steven Isserlis and Gorgy Kurtag.
Miloš is also a keen chamber musician. He is a member of the London Tango quintet, Kosmos Ensemble and AccordDuo. Internationally, he performed in Russia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Iceland, Serbia and Montenegro, Spain and Canary Islands, Malta as well as Australia and New Zealand. He also gave live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, ABC and Serbian National Radio and television network.
In March 2008, Miloš Milivojević was the Winner of the prestigious Derek Butler London Prize at the Wigmore Hall.

In January 2010, he made his concerto debut at the St James Piccadilly playing Charles Camilleri Concerto for Accordion and Strings with Filarmonika orchestra, conducted by Brian Schembri.
Harriet McKenzie-Violin
Harriet McKenzie has toured Europe, America, China, South America, South Africa and Japan as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Harriet made her highly acclaimed Purcell room debut as part of the Park Lane Young Artists Series. Since then she has given recitals worldwide in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw and the Expo Dome in Japan, NCPA and Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre in China. She premiered Robert Fokkens violin concerto, written and dedicated to her, at the South Bank Centre, London and in 2012 gave the premiere of Graham Coatman’s violin concerto at the Swaledale Festival, which was also written and dedicated to her. She has broadcast recitals ‘live’ for BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and Hungarian National Radio. She frequently performs concertos both in the UK and abroad.
Harriet graduated from the Royal Academy of Music where she was supported by numerous awards: the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund, Tillett Trust, Hattori Foundation and the Manoug Parikian Award. Harriet is passionate about contemporary music and has collaborated with composers such as Anthony Payne, Mauricio Kagel, Paul Patterson, Marc Yeats and Gyorgy Kurtag. Harriet collaborated with number of musicians; the Carducci Quartet, guitarist Morgan Szymanski and with pianists Anna Tilbrook, Christopher Glynn and in the ‘Sutherland Duo’ with Christina Lawrie (winners of the Enterprise Music Scotland Award 2012). She is a founder member of the innovative, unique string trio Kosmos and Retorica Duo.
2012 sees Harriet releasing three CDs – her debut CD with Retorica – all all English album to be released on the NMC label with the premiere recordings of pieces written for the duo by David Matthews, John McCabe and Jim Aitchison as well as works by Rawsthorne and the debut recording of the Sonata for two violins by the esteemed composer Moeran, this CD is to be released at LSO St Luke’s in September; the second CD of Kosmos ‘Pomegranate'; and the debut recording of John McCabe’s double violin concerto to be released on the Dutton label with conductor George Vass and Orchestra Nova. Future performing highlights include Retorica being Artists in Residence at the Prestiegne Festival performing Paul Patterson Double concerto and recitals and a new commission by Cecilia MacDowall; a new piece for the Sutherland Duo written by Gareth Williams; concerto performances in China and South Africa.She is also the artistic director of the Jersey Liberation Music Festival.
