On 25 August, for the first time in its history, Peru hosted an accordion concert, as part of a prestigious international event.
The “Asociacion de Accordeonistas de Peru” (Association of Accordionists of Peru) welcomed with great enthusiasm Master Mirco Patarini, an internationally renowned concert musician, as well as current President of CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes).
The event was organized with the collaboration of local authorities including the Minister of Culture Patricia Balbuena, the President of the abovementioned association Alfonso Maslucan and Marisol Espinoza Cruz, congresswoman and leading figure of Peruvian political life.
The concert took place in Lima, in the great Theatre of the Cultural Centre of San Isidro that was sold out.
Master Mirco Patarini enchanted the audience with his oestrus playing extracts of different music styles.
The aim of this visit was to promote art, culture and music and to widespread the accordion tradition, not only in the folk genre but also in its classical repertoire.
Local authorities attended the event and they have been very satisfied for the success achieved and for the audience’s participation. Also Master Patarini stated that he felt honoured for having the opportunity to visit a country full of traditions and culture. With this first visit, he looks forward to start a long collaboration. Furthermore, he officially invited Peru to join the Confederation with the hope of having some Peruvian contenders at the next edition of Coupe Mondiale, the oldest and important international accordion competition that, each year, take place in a different country.
At the end of the event, Master Mirco Patarini was awarded of an important recognition by the Congress of the Republic. He received this prize for his commitment in supporting the spreading of accordion culture in Peruvian tradition; to reward him has been the Minister of Culture Patricia Balbuena on behalf of the Congress and the President of Peru James Atkins, in the presence of Italian Ambassador Mauro Marsili.
