From 18 to 20 September it is “The vioulounado (the violinata!). Biennial festival of folk violin”. It is a very special event. Not only because was born with the precise intention of enhancing the culture of popular violin, with all that this includes about the technical-executive, repertoires, but also social. But because it refers to a technique of traditional workmanship in a confluence of more expressive traditions. The festival takes place, in fact, to Frassino in Val Varaita (CN), an “Occitan” area, a border area, where some scholars have conducted interesting research on the music and expressive traditions. In which, above all, it has developed for many years, a process of recovery and revival of local cultural peculiarities, often driven by musicians. The richness of this event, which is now in its third edition, confirms the dynamism that affects the area. Lovers of the violin will find much to see and hear, but there will be events dedicated to other instruments, with internships and meetings to reflect on various topics. I point out some of the most interesting. At City Hall, Frassino, at 17.30, Saturday 19 is scheduled the conference “Juzep from ‘Rous – violinist Val Varaita”, curated by Jean de Peire Bousquier; to follow, at the Locanda of Chimi, will perform the Trio Mammoth, while at 21.30, at the Island Bar, dance with Violons du Rigodon, Artense Duo and Trio Baía. Sunday 20 at 12.00 in Piazza Marconi there will be “Tentacles”, show presented by Solitunes Records with Stefano Risso (double bass) and Sara Marasso (dance); at 15 is expected, however, the most spectacular event of the program. This is “The vioulounado!”, a parade of musicians and artists in the streets of Frassino, “full of violin and folk art”.
