Gioacchino RossiniThe “Amici della Lirica Gioacchino Rossini” Pesaro Club has decided to celebrate the life and works of Aurelio Burzi, a versatile artist, musician and sculptor born in the town of Pesaro. Aurelio Burzi spent most of his life working in Brussels. He came back to his hometown with his wife Lydia, a Belgian journalist, and he died there in 2004.A renowned baritone, he played in the most important European theaters. At the same time he kept his passion for sculpture alive by creating works such as Christ’s Head and a Pope John XXIII bas relief. These works ornate the Carmelite Church in Brussels. One of his bas reliefs can be admired in San Leo, Italy.

During the Second World War he was a member of the Italian Army’s “Bersaglieri” rifle regiment where he became a skilled marksman and practiced several sports.
