MusicassettaThe New York Times published an interesting article where converge the shape of the article and proclamation. The theme is the preservation of old documents, whether paper or audio or visual. A theme that generally deal with sector experts dedicated space and very sectoral, but this time it is released and reaches a higher number of readers, who, though not scholars or employees in archives and libraries, may be interested in the conservation of their documentary heritage (which include, of course, documents that we all have in the drawers, such as photos, diplomas, an old contract, the old vinyl, etc..). The article proposes readers to send their questions to Bertram Lyons, archivist at the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress in Washington and member of the executive council of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives. Among the questions are the following: how can I digitize my collection of cassettes and disks? What is the best format to save my recordings? I would like to scan my photos, what resolution should I use? Anyone interested can post his questions in the comments area of the article. The answers will be posted on Booming on 5 June.
