After fifteen years, the “Canzoni della Cupa” by Vinicio Capossela

The press speaks of it with enthusiasm now for several months. Social media bounce, for a few weeks in a more coherent, images and “pills” of sessions of pleasant recordings of “popular characters passages” of unlikely instruments sounds. He had even released a few months ago, but an intervention to the most “popular author’s vocal cords” of the Italian singer-songwriter scene has postponed to early May. It is “Songs of Cupa”, the infamous album that Vinicio Capossela hatching from fifteen years and that finally saw the light. The preparation has probably had a decisive turning point in recent years, during which Vinicio has mastered the dialectic of popular expressions, thanks above all to return to Calitri, the country of origin of his family in Alta Irpinia. The key step was represented very well by Sponz Fest, the spectacular rally in August that some years involving musicians, writers, artists and journalists. Then there was the collaboration, bizarre and alienating to weave time with the Band of the Post (the orchestra of marriages). And finally “The Cupa” songs, a collection of twenty-eight songs collected under the determinants “Shadow” and “Dust” and in which they appear contributions (direct and indirect) of the singers of the tradition of our country, as Matteo Salvatore and Antonio Infantino and artists such as Calexico, Los Lobos and Giant Sand. These days the artist is engaged in a promotional tour around the country. But among the most eye-catching events there was to Saturday, May 7 at the suspended station Conza-Andretta-Cairano.
