On 18 and 19 June was held at the Cini Foundation in Venice conference titled “The musical performance: a comparative approach”, which was attended by music historians and ethnomusicologists. The main objective of the meeting was to compare the experiences of study on performance practice in the areas of Western art music and the music of oral tradition. At the center is the performative act with its various aspects: gesture, physicality, visuality, sociability, interaction. In fact, the historical musicology and ethnomusicology have emphasized the centrality of the acoustic realization, that there is no production of sounds musical culture, both of which have developed theoretical approaches, but have so far articulated on roads autonomous. The seminar was organized by the Institute for Music and by the Intercultural Institute of Comparative Music Studies in collaboration with the research project Musik als Ereignis (Von “Exekution” zu “Performanz.” Eine geschichte Begriffs musikalischer Aufführung seit dem 18. Jahrhundert ), directed by Hermann Danuser at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Labex gream (Groupe de Recherches sur l’Acte Expérimentales Musical), directed by Pierre Michel at the University of Strasbourg. For ethnomusicology Francesco Giannattasio attended the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and Martin Clayton of Durham University.
