From September 26 to 29 will be held in Cagliari (Sardinia) the conference of the ICTM Italian National Committee. The title of the meeting is “Current perspectives of ethnomusicological research in Italy” and will be attended by many ethnomusicologists and Italian scholars. The purpose of the meeting is twofold. On the one hand, as stated in the website, is to spread the activities of ICTM through a forum in which Italian scholars will share and discuss their work. On the other hand there is the need to define new perspectives of study, especially in relation to contemporary scenarios that we face every day. In fact, the Italy National Committee launched a call for abstracts, primarily aimed at PhD students and young researchers. The selected contributions will be included in a collective volume on the theme “Making ethnomusicology at the time of Youtube”, whose purpose is to promote studies and research on how the technologies in the sound recording and the unlimited possibilities of spreading music offered by the web influence musical practices.
The conference program and the entire call for abstracts can be found here.
