The “Chiarastella”. Christmas songs in the italian folk traditions

OrganettoOn 5 and 6 January 2013 exclusively for the Auditorium, the Orchestra Popolare Italiana offers the Chiarastella , an original project by Ambrogioe Sparagna, now in its sixth edition, dedicated to the Italian tradition of Christmas carols.

In this sixth edition Ambrose Sparagna pays particular attention to the public of the deaf. A large and complex community, which often are denied information and culture barriers that seem insurmountable. To involve the beauty of making music together this part of the spectacle of humanity Chiarastella use the visual channel and gestural LIS( Italian Sign Language) interpreters who will translate through the contents of popular songs using a special gesture interpretation. Along with a hundred and fifty musicians and singers singers on stage “sing” with their signs so many young people of the Institute for the Deaf in Rome with the coordination of Laura Santarelli.

A great show with so many actors among which the intense and passionate voice of Peppe Servillo and the narrator of the poet Davide Rondoni.

A rich and vibrant team of young voices and instrumentalists from various regions will animate the Orchestra Popolare characterizing the Italian repertoire. Among these stand out the voices of Gorizia Gabriella Gabrielli , the Neapolitan Gianni Aversano and Sicilian Eleanor Bordonaro. The Sardinians Orlando Mascia and Elisha, father and son of Maracalagonis (Cagliari), extraordinary interpreters of the repertoire of launeddas. And yet, the bagpipes “melodic” Aldo Iezza of Molise, the bagpipes “flush” by Antonio Grande from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Messina) and the great bagpipes “giants” of the more skilled master builder of bagpipes, the young Marco Tomassi of Cassino (Fr). The sound of the instruments drone is enriched by the presence of many bagpipes typical of northern Italy, entrusted to Raffaello Simeoni, great virtuoso of wind instruments and folk instruments, and the hurdy-gurdy and the “torototela” (violin trumpet) of Erasmo Treglia, eclectic multi-instrumentalist.

The Orchestra is also enriched by the presence of other young musicians, including “the Ciociaria” Lucia Cremonesi (viola) and Diego Micheli (bass) , Clara Graziano (accordion) and Christian Califano (guitar and swing guitar ), the frame drums of Gaeta (Lt) Valentina Ferraiuolo and percussionist Ottavio Saviano.

This original instrumental ensemble will accompany a large popular Choir directed by Anna Rita Colaianni result Laboratories developed in the months of November and December within the activities of the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
