In Bologna on 6 and 7 April will be organized an event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the death of ethnomusicologist Roberto Leydi. The two days dedicated to the memory of the scholar who has contributed for decades to the research and analysis of the oral tradition musics, but also their development outside the traditional areas, would be titled “Roberto Leydi. The other music”. The event will focus on the music of Crete – where Leydi has conducted important research since the seventies – in collaboration with the musician Stelios Lainakis, on some testimonies about the life and work of the scholar and the screening of the documentary “Roberto Leydi. The other music” by Aurelio Citelli. The latter is an unpublished video-portrait of Roberto Leydi, based on two interviews in 1996, in which the ethnomusicologist tells his professional and personal story, which coincided with the most important Italian ethnomusicology and traditional music events.
