Istituto Ernesto de MartinoAla Bianca Group and the Institute Ernesto De Martino have launched a competition to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the Liberation. The two subjects – involved in the enhancement of musical popular and politicians repertoires of our country – is not the first time working together. This time, however, expand their range and cater to artists and cartoonists. The competition, in fact – the settlement of which is accessible on www.70liberazione.it -, aims to select a series of illustrations that will complete the booklet of the CD that will be published to celebrate this important anniversary. The jury is chaired by Sergio Staino and select forty works which, taken together (to the intentions of the promoters), also suggest a new and contemporary vision of Liberation. The title of the competition is “Draw a song, a Liberation” and forty songs that would make up the CD have already been chosen in the vast catalog of issues that are part of Ala Bianca (as I Dischi del Sole). Titles in the lineup well represent the cultural ferment that – in the vast range of musical productions and popular policies – has affected our country from the late fifties. There are the great classics of resistance – as “Bella ciao” – but also lesser-known tracks that, taken together, define the profile of a movement that has always maintained a marginal position in the music market, despite its strong structure, consistency and longevity. Some songs have become representative of this movement (as well as the Resistance), becoming a symbol of protest and political opposition. Among these (now famous thanks to reworkings of artists like Ivan Della Mea, Fausto Amodei, Giovanna Marini) include: ” Fischia il vento”, “Pientà l’è morta”, “Dai monti di Sarzana”.
