The fourth edition of Strumenti&Musica Festival closed its doors last night on the unmistakable notes of Astor Piazzolla. Starring the final evening are the internationally renowned bandoneón player Cesare Chiacchiaretta and his Cuarteto del Angel, an ensemble that, with “Homage to Astor Piazzolla”, has revived the most famous tangos of the Argentinean composer transformed the stage at the Teatro Caio Melisso of Spoleto in a milonga of Buenos Aires. To make the atmosphere even more realistic the two tangueros Brunella Benigni and Giuseppe Franceschini of Naharia association have performed the tune of Chiacchiaretta.
Yesterday, the bandoneón player from Abruzzo was also awarded of the “Astor Piazzolla” Prize assigned to him by Strumenti&Musica and Aldo Pagani, publisher and friend of the same Piazzolla. A richly-deserved recognition, result of the widespread appreciation throughout the world and for what he showed at the Caio Melisso.

Thanks to the activity of the Italian Accordion Culture, and the support of local institutions, the relationship between Spoleto and the accordion is further on enhanced. Last night, in fact, the artistic director of S&M Festival Mirco Patarini and President of the CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes) Raymond Bodell announced that Spoleto will host in August 2012 the 65th edition of the prestigious international exhibition: another good opportunity to spread the musical culture, a wonderful postcard to make known Spoleto in the World.
