As we have noted, the 66th Coupe Mondiale is organized by BC Accordion Society, a non-profit society, founded in early 2010. The mission of the Society is to promote the culture of the accordion through concerts, workshops, master classes and competitions.
In 2010, the Society created the BC Accordion Orchestra and took over the responsibility for Victoria Accordion Festival, establishing at the same time an international accordion competition.
The Society also established the accordion program at Camosun College in Victoria, that is the only place in Canada, outside Toronto, where students can study accordion and obtain an official degree.
The BC Accordion Society is a Voting Member for CIA (Confederation Internationale des Accordeonistes) and as such represents Canada in all activities organized by the biggest accordion organization in the world.
Within the rich program of the 66th Coupe Mondiale, which takes place in Victoria, Canada, until August 25, there will be numerous events, ranging from competition to entertainment.
The day of 21 August is dedicated to the race and in particular to the category “Junior Virtuoso Entertainment”. Each participant performs in two performances, presenting two songs different in style and mood. The performance can last up to nine minutes. Exceeding the maximum time allowed will procure penalties.
Participants will perform at Alexis Goolden Performance Hall starting at 15.00. Here you can view the program.
