It was released for the Note editions the volume “The sounds of the tree. The Maggio of San Giuliano in Accettura”. The authors are ethnomusicologists Nicola Scaldaferri and Steven Feld, who analyzed the ritual of May – present in various forms in Umbria – through its important musical component and, in general, sound.

As you can read the back cover, the authors have developed “a new and unique methodological approach … characterized by a participatory dimension and interdisciplinary dialogue”.

The book consists of “an essay in the form of dialogue” which are attached “two complementary CD with the soundscape composition of the ritual and the documentation of musical practices in the context of the Accettura’s tradition”. Also includes “an important collection of photographs, taken from many years of field research – combined with theoretical reflection – by Stefano Vaja and the work of Lorenzo Ferrarini, plus the enlightening text of Ferdinand Mirizzi on Maggio demo-anthropological studies, beginning with those of Giovanni Battista Bronzini”.
