The Carpino Folk Festival is now in its twentieth edition and this year, as has become a tradition of the festival of Puglia, the billboard is articulate and interesting. 3 through August 9 will alternate on stage at the festival many artists, but not only. There will be meetings on topics related to popular traditions, presentations, competitions, excursions, guided tours. Among the events not to be missed highlight the presentation of a book of which we have recently talked in this column. It is “Roberto Leydi e il Sentite buona gente”, scheduled Wednesday, August 5 at 21.00 at Largo di San Nicola. At the presentation will participate the author Domenico Ferraro and Maurizio Agamenone (University of Florence), and will screen movies of the sixties on Cantori of Carpino and therapists musicians from Nardò. The same day will receive the lifetime achievement award to Giovanna Marini and is planning an unusual sight, Giovanna Stifani will interpret Luigi Stifani (barber-violinist of Nardo told by De Martino in his book about tarantism), accompanied by Antonio Stifani. As for the music, remember the show “Gargano: mother earth daunia” by Gianni Lannes, with musical accompaniment by Redi Hasa and Maria Mazzotta, scheduled for August 5. Friday and Saturday will perform, among others, Giuliana de Donno, Massimo Cusato and Raffaello Simeoni (in the play “South of the world”), Faraualla and Bufò di Sepino. Sunday big closure with I Cantori di Carpino (Style, history and music to carpinese), expected at ten in the Piazza del Popolo.
