Will be organized in the Officine Cantelmos in Lecce on 16, 17 and 18 October, the new edition of FolkBooks, an exhibition dedicated to folk literature. The event is organized with the assistance of the City of Lecce and Puglia Sounds in partnership with Tarantarte and under the artistic direction of Vincent and Antonio Santoro. The program is very rich and includes a series of meetings on the books, but also meetings and discussions on many issues related to the folk and popular scenario. Friday, October 16, for example, the ladder will be opened by the presentation of research of Marina Gabrieli on the processes of appropriation and re-organization of the popular music of southern Italy by some groups of young Italian-Argentinean in the city of Buenos Aires. This will be followed, at 18:00, the presentation of the book “Music and ecstasy. Listening to the mystical Sufi tradition”by Jean During. The meeting will present the author, Giovanni De Zorzi (researcher) and Maurizio Agamennone (Ethnomusicologist). 22.30 is expected “Paao a Sud”, a project of music and dance, by Tarantarte and Officina Zoe, inspired by the “pizzica” and tarantism of Salento. On Saturday 18 the program includes several events, among which we highlight the presentation of the new edition of the book “Letters from a tarantata” by Annabella Rossi, which will be present Paolo Apolito (anthropologist and editor of the new edition recently published by Squilibri) and Maurizio Agamennone . The presentation will follow “The anthropologist at home”, a theatrical performance of “Rhythms of celebration”, the latest work by Paul Apolito, in which the author deals with the meanings “of relations of brotherhood that sharing of music is used to generate”. Sunday 19, at 20, will be presented “Badlands. Springsteen and America: work and dreams” by Alessandro Portelli, while at 22 is expected “Alan Lomax and the ‘trip to Italy (1954-55)”, meeting on the first search campaign on traditional Italian music.
