It comes from a convergence of different subjects the project Archiviosonoro.org, a space in which sound of our country are organized, classified and managed according to new prospects. The online platform is already active and provides the ability to consult, for the moment, sound materials of Puglia and Basilicata, while are coming those of Campania and Abruzzo. The idea is simple and efficient: collect and organize sound files and then place them in a development project which, along with cataloging aimed at the preservation and study, allows the oral songs to live countless new lives.
The portal contains sound, filmic and photographs files, as well as several news on the contexts of recording and the authors of the recordings. To give an idea of the magnitude of materials, we briefly describe the sound archive of Puglia. It consists of seventeen funds, including those of the documentary Di Gianni, Luigi Chiriatti, Roberto Leydi and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The materials are not categorized by themes, being divided and organized within the individual funds. Of the latter include information that contextualize the documents, supplemented by in-depth research on the individual have been documented through which the musical repertoires of the region and the so-called informants, who are commendably dedicated to “The Player”. The documents are not only listed but you can hear and see. This archive can be considered a good example not only for the organization of materials, but also for the dissemination of these and enhancement of the musical heritage of oral tradition.
