The album, made with its Rast Ensemble, is built mainly on the fusion of Turkish music and Jewish. Turkish traditional instruments are also added “classic” intruments, such as piano, drums, trombone, trumpet and electric guitar, creating a unique blend of the Mediterranean atmosphere and other Western styles such as jazz, rock and funk.
Muallem, of Iraqi origin, was born in Israel in 1968. In 2002 he moved to Istanbul and joined the group “Istanbul Sazendeleri”, with which offers shows throughout Turkey and Europe. He later founded his Rast Ensemble, and at the same time he joined as a soloist at the “Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra.” He also toured Europe, Turkey and Israel together with harpist Sirin Pancaroğlu, with whom he produced the album “Skin & Strings”.
