Bella ciao MilanoTonight at 21:00 in the Auditorium di Milano Giuseppe Di Vittorio (Corso di Porta Vittoria, 43), will be staged the show “Bella ciao”. As you read in the notes from the Instituto Ernesto de Martino of Sesto Fiorentino, “the most important show of Italian folk revival”, set up again after fifty years. The art direction of this project is Franco Fabbri – musician, musicologist and professor at the University of Turin – and the director (who, in the original version, was Filippo Crivelli, who, together with Roberto Leydi, was also author of the show) has been entrusted to Silvano Piccardi. Among the artists who will take part in the play there are many big names in the panorama of contemporary popular music and beyond, as Ginevra Di Marco (voice), Lucilla Galeazzi (voice), Elena Ledda (voice), Alessio Lega (vocals, guitar), Andrea Salvatore (guitar and other strings), Gigi Biolcati (percussion and vocals), Riccardo Tesi (accordion and musical direction). Artists that will replace the now famous characters that fifty years ago were just as representative of a scenario that, starting from the research on the music of oral tradition, had led to a major cultural and political ferment throughout the country: Giovanna Marini, Michele L. Straniero Fausto Amodei, Giovanna Daffini, Caterina Bueno and many others. As stated in the explanatory note of the show: “It is hard to touch a monument. You need to be both faithful and innovative, resolve the apparent incompatibility of these two requirements. The great strength of the show lies in the original lineup of songs, that this rearrangement returns with philological rigor; innovation of this rearrangement is the treatment given to a musical ensemble directed and concerted by Riccardo Tesi, one of the most brilliant and thoughtful protagonists of the popular music world. No longer, therefore, to the accompaniment of the guitar solo, but a work of composition that establishes a dialogue between sounds and meanings, a symphony for rich folk. The voices of the performers can not be the same. Careful research led to the selection of an exceptional cast: the most interesting performers of popular music and singing social, which are direct children of “Bella ciao”.

On 17 June, there will be a conference on “Bella ciao”, at the University of Milan, Department of Cultural and Environmental Heritage, Napoleonic Room, Palace Greppi, Via S. Antonio 10. Will be edited by Nicola Scaldaferri and Franco Fabbri and will focus on the “daring research that led to the discovery of the tracks, the furious controversy that accompanied the first, disputes among researchers, theater anecdotes”, representing fifty years after the event “unforgettable pages of custom and Italian culture”.
