I rappresentanti della CIA alla 40º Assemblea Generale dell’International Music Council (IMC) a Rabat

Si è tenuta a Rabat in Marocco, dal 22 al 25 novembre, la 40º Assemblea Generale dell’International Music Council (IMC) nel quadro di ‘Visa For Music’, un evento che ha portato in Africa alcune delle comunità musicali internazionali più importanti impegnate in una serie di conferenze, speed-meeting, workshop e sessioni di formazione finalizzate alla progettazione di nuove opportunità.

Nel corso del congresso, organizzato sotto la presidenza di Alfons Karabuda (Svezia), si sono tenute anche le votazioni che hanno eletto il nuovo esecutivo e la presidente Sheila Woodward (USA/Sud Africa).

Presenti anche i vertici della Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) nella persona del presidente Mirco Patarini e del segretario generale Kimmo Mattila. Va ricordato, a tal proposito, che la CIA è un membro votante dell’Internazionale Music Council, fondato nel 1949, partner ufficiale ONG dell’UNESCO ed è stata, nel 1975, la prima organizzazione specifica ad essere accettata, su richiesta dell’UNESCO, come organo consultivo in materia musicale.

Circa centoventi delegati provenienti da tutti i continenti, in rappresentanza di una buona percentuale dell’ecosistema musicale internazionale, si sono riuniti per plasmare le azioni future dell’IMC intorno ai suoi valori fondamentali riassunti nei Cinque Diritti Musicali. I due rappresentanti della CIA hanno preso la parola per presentare le principali attività dell’organizzazione, il sistema di gestione economica e quello elettorale della stessa sottolineando anche l’importanza di incentivare la realizzazione di eventi dal vivo, degli incontri “faccia a faccia” in alternativa alle sempre più frequenti videoconferenze in particolare nel corso del processo di voto di qualsiasi elezione.

The CIA is a Voting Member of the International Music Council (MC), an Official NGO partner of UNESCO. In 1975, the CIA was the first instrument specific organization to be accepted into the IMC. The MC was founded in 1949 at the request of UNESCO as an advisory body on musical matters.

As IMC approaches its 75th anniversary in 2024, this 40th General Assembly will be a key moment for the life of the international organisation. Some 120 members from all continents, representing a large range of the international music ecosystem, came together in Rabat to shape IMC’s future actions around its core values embedded in the Five Music Rights.

IMC previously held a successful General Assembly in Rabat in 2015 and the 2023 Visa for Music’ has become an unique event bridging Africa with the international music communities. ‘Visa for Music’ also hosts conferences, speed-meetings, workshops, and training sessions to multiply encounters and offer multiple opportunities.

Mirco and Kimmo explained to the new elected IMC board and the President the main activities of the CIA and described them the main working processes of the CIA. For example the election process as well as the economy seems to be very well organised in the CIA. They emphasized also the importance of live events and face-to-face meetings instead of putting them on-line.

This concerns especially the voting process of any election.

The new President is Sheila Woodward.
